Who Should Attend Asbestos Operational Training?
For settings where Solihull Council is the employer, a third mandatory level of training is required above the Foundation and Awareness training modules for those persons responsible for the general day to day running of buildings and their management. This includes persons who have maintenance responsibility for properties, including budgetary, control and those managers and staff who have the responsibility for the Asbestos Management Plan and its communication on-site. This is likely to be Headteachers, Facilities / Building / Site Managers in schools and in buildings where Solihull Council is the employer.
For academies please note, this is a briefing session covering the principles of managing asbestos and does not provide a qualification. Staff members who have a responsibility to manage asbestos on their premises need to complete the UKATA Duty To Manage Asbestos (Appointed Person) Training. UKATA is the UK Asbestos Training Association. Please contact us for recommendations on where to access this training.
Learning Outcomes
The courses aim to provide delegates with a deeper knowledge and understanding of managing asbestos through:
- Understanding the principles of managing asbestos within our buildings
- Understanding the management documents and processes in place to manage asbestos
- Understanding how risk of inadvertent or accidental release of asbestos is minimised.
Asbestos Awareness and Asbestos Operational Training must be refreshed every three years as a minimum.
For Solihull Council employees, Asbestos Foundation and Asbestos Awareness e-learning must have been completed by those attending this training. The course relies on a foundation knowledge of asbestos, which is covered in the previous courses.
