Preparing to Attend Training

1. Review the diary invite / email confirmation prior to the day of the course to familiarise yourself with the details of the training.

2. Familiarise yourself with the venue information and Health and Safety for Visitors leaflet as they contain lots of helpful guidance including car parking, signing in arrangements and what to do in the event of a fire alarm to make your day as stress free as possible.

3. If your course contains an element of e-learning this must be completed in full before attendance at the face to face training. The e-learning does not need to be completed in one sitting and can be broken up into shorter sections if necessary. E-learning is an integral part of the training and course leaders will check the learning and knowledge of delegates during the course to ensure they have met the learning requirements.

4. Avoid coming into the building if you are feeling unwell or have tested positive for COVID-19. Please contact us on 0121 704 6328 or at healthandsafetysupport@solihull.gov.uk to let us know and follow the latest Government advice.

5. Risk assessments for all our venues are in place.

6. Apparatus will be given as required to complete the course e.g. mannequins. Each delegate will be given a set of pre-cleaned apparatus for their own use. Sanitising wipes will also be available for delegates to clean their apparatus.

7. Sessions will start promptly at the time stated on your confirmation email. Late attendees may not be permitted to join the course so please allow enough time to get to the training venue.

8. Hot drinks such as tea and coffee are unfortunately no longer provided on all of our courses. Please refer to the Venue Information Leaflet for the most up to date information on what is available on your training course. There are facilities within our training rooms for hot water and sugar so you can bring and make your own hot drinks if you wish. You can bring and refill a water bottle at all of our venues and food is not provided by us.

9. Writing materials are not provided so please bring a notepad and pen with you.

10. Additional support measures – If you consider yourself to be high risk and / or require additional support measures to be in place, please contact us on healthandsafetysupport@solihull.gov.uk or call 0121 704 6328.

11. To qualify for certification you must attend and complete all aspects of the course.

12. What to do if you are unable to attend training

Transferring a place – you may transfer a booked training place to another member of staff providing that the replacement member of staff is able to complete any applicable e-learning prior to the start of the face to face training. Details of the delegate who is not able to attend the training course and the details of the person attending in their place should be completed on the ‘Course Cancellation Form’ tab on your dashboard via www.solihullprotect.co.uk as soon as possible and within 10 working days of the scheduled course date. Cancelling your place – details of the delegate who is not able to attend the training course and the date / time of the course should be completed on the ‘Course Cancellation Form’ tab on your dashboard via www.solihullprotect.co.uk. If we are notified within 10 working days of the scheduled course date, it is our policy to offer you a place on another course but please be aware there may be a delay in the provision of training at busy times. If we are notified less than 10 working days prior to the scheduled course date, and it has not been possible for you to facilitate a replacement, the place will need to be rebooked and a further charge will need to be made. Exceptional circumstances will be considered on an individual basis.
