This course is aimed at any individual who needs or wishes to gain the valuable knowledge of how to deliver Automated External Defibrillation in the event of a cardiac arrest.
This course provides those who are successful with the necessary knowledge and skills to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during a cardiac arrest event. The course follows the latest Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines.
This course covers how to:
• Approach a casualty safely
• Assess a collapsed casualty
• Correctly apply effective chest compressions to a casualty
• Administer effective rescue breaths to a casualty
• Turn on the AED and attach the electrodes correctly
• Assess cardiac rhythm by the AED
• Perform defibrillation safely
• Place casualty in the recovery position.
This course will be assessed through activities, multiple-choice tests and practical assessments.
This course is run face to face and takes half a day (3.5 hours).
Successful candidates shall be awarded the “Automated External Defibrillation” certificate that is valid for 3 years.
On this course candidates will learn, demonstrate and be assessed on all of the practical sections of the course. This is a trainer led session with practical elements that will provide you with the skills to support your new theoretical knowledge.
